A classic 1939 book on graphic presentations is full of infographic ideas

Graphic Presentation by Willard Cope Brinton - pages 162-163

Nathan Yau from Flowing Data has discovered that a classic book about data visualization is available as a free download on Internet Archive.

The book, written by one of the pioneers of data visualization, Willard Cope Brinton, is entitled “Graphic presentation” and was published by Brinton Associates in 1939.

On 526 pages, you’ll find lots of charts, and graphs. Some of them are highly creative and innovative. Use them in the infographic, and no one would believe these visualization methods were invented almost 80 years ago.
