“Unprintable” interactive digital books from Google

Google unprintable digital books

Google Australia has come up with an experimental project called Editions At Play, aimed at exploring the potential of digital books.

The books have “unprintable” features. Besides the ability to see the locations on Google Street Map, we can switch between two characters’ perspectives on the same situation.

The content changes dynamically on your smartphone or tablet, using all the attributes of the modern mobile web to do things that printed books never could.

Simply put, we wanted to see if we could keep the integrity of reading, but play with the book’s digital form.

For a start, two books are offered Entrances & Exits by Reif Larsen and The Truth About Cats & Dogs by Joe Dunthorne and Sam Riviere.
