There are just six kinds of plots in every book

Daily Mail shares the results of the study based on the analysis of over 1,700 books from Project Gutenberg.

Researchers used sentiment analysis – located words linked to positive or negative emotion in each story.

It turns out that in every book, movie TV show, or any other story ever created in the world, there are only six kinds of plots:

  1. Fall-rise-fall
  2. Rise and then a fall
  3. Fall and then a rise
  4. Steady fall
  5. Steady rise
  6. Rise-fall-rise

The most popular stories have been found to follow the “Fall-rise-fall” and “Rise and then a fall” flows.
