According to a new Pew Research Center survey on reading habits, audiobooks are a book format that enjoyed the biggest growth since the previous survey conducted in 2016.
In January 2018, 18% of American adults claimed they have listened to an audiobook in the last 12 months. It’s almost one-third more than two years earlier, when the share of audiobook consumption was at 14%.
The shares of other book formats have changed only slightly. It’s worth stressing that both the total book consumption and the use of print books have increased, while ebooks are on the way down.
