It’s one of the most thrilling stories from the beginning of self-publishing.
After being rejected by publishers several times, a young paranormal romance writer, Amanda Hocking, looked into self-publishing.
In April 2010, she started publishing her novels in the Kindle Store. The books were priced between $0.99 and $2.99.
In less than a year, she sold over 900 thousand copies of her nine novels, with 450 thousand in January 2011 alone.
Given the highest price point and royalty for each book, she would have made close to $2 million.
