This detached, garden studio near Arlington, Va., was designed as a quiet writer’s retreat for a focused creative work.
Architects from Harrison Design created a contemporary, 400-sq. ft., wood-and-glass studio for a writer who sought a quiet refuge.
Folding glass doors give the studio a strong connection to the outdoors. Inside, two columns of bookcases roll open to reveal a half-bath and storage area.
💬 Organic materials, such as the cedar ceiling and floor made of weathered planks from reclaimed oak whiskey barrels, bring warmth to the contemporary space.
