The ranking is based and evaluated on a 19-point system that considers peer assessment, graduation rates, and faculty resources, among others.

The data was first published by U.S. News and World Report which compared more than 400 universities in the United States.

The infographic provides a list of the 50 best universities that offer various undergraduate majors, post-graduate programs, emphasize research, and award professional practice doctorates.

Princeton University tops the 2023-24 list. It’s known for its strong academic programs, particularly in the sciences, humanities, and social sciences. The university has a long history of producing Nobel laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, and other distinguished alumni. 

It’s worth noting that the Princeton University was leading the rankings for 13 straight years.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and Stanford University are in the top 3, with Harvard being the most affordable Ivy League university ($59.1K/year).

The list of the best U.S. universities includes 25 private universities (in blue) and 25 public universities (in yellow). Eight universities are Ivy League colleges, with seven of them being included in the top 10.

The highest-ranked public schools are Berkeley and UCLA. They both occupy the 15th place. Florida State University is the least expensive university on the list. The yearly fee for in-state is $6,381, and out-of-state is $21,683.
